The adventure begins!

By Charlene Slaughter

A few years ago, I used to joke around with a good fiend of mine about dropping everything and taking a cross country trip. In our scenario, we would buy one of those old vans from the 70’s and paint it in psychedelic colors and drive from city to city, exploring our nation. It was a fun fantasy, but I never really thought it would come true.

Well, here I am, traveling across the country with the Claflin University Concert Choir. I couldn’t ask for better company. Don’t worry, we didn’t paint the University bus, but we will have the opportunity to explore the nation.

In all, we will visit nine states – Georgia, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado, Missouri and Tennessee – with many exciting stops in between. I, along with the members of the concert choir, will be your tour guides, and we invite you to travel the country with us. Log on as often as you like to see what we’re up to. View photos of us in Utah, or see video of the choir performing in cities including Dallas, Texas, Las Vegas, Nevada and Denver, Colorado.

The tour will last 16 days with the choir singing at high schools and performing evening concerts across the nation. So, though you’re not physically here with us, take a virtual seat on our tour bus and join us for this wonderful experience.

Oh, and don’t knock those fun fantasies. You may wake up on day and find yourself living them.

Hello my fellow CLAFLINITIES So far I am enjoying myself on the tour, even though I am getting a little homesick. However, I have the opportunity to see new places and see new faces that I never seen before. I am also able to build new friendship with people on the choir (Ariel, Chesney, and Salley) just to name a few. I would like to thank God, my family, Dr. McGee, and all other people that helped make this tour possible.
